Microfracture Recovery- Day 2

Day 2 started off pretty rough. I was in a lot of pain at night so I decided to take two pain pills which got me through to the early morning when I took one more.  I don’t know if I didn’t eat enough (I’m supposed to eat something with each pain pill and only choked down half a graham cracker because it was the middle of the night) or if it was just too much medication for me, but I woke up not feeling well.  I ended up getting sick and spent the day with a pounding headache and not being able to keep anything down.

I was able to remove my bandages and take a shower so I had hoped that would make me feel better, but it was quite the process and ended up being very painful.  I’m very fortunate to have my husband helping me out because I don’t know how I would have been able to do this part on my own.

I spent the day on my CPM machine catching up on more tv and by late evening was starting to feel much better.  By the end of the night my nausea was gone and my knee pain was much more bearable.

I’m looking forward to starting physical therapy and feeling like I’m making progress.

About Paige

I am a runner, wife and mother of three. I've been running since I was a kid and had my first taste of victory when I beat all the boys (and girls) in my grade at a school run. Since then, I've had a love/hate relationship with running....I love to run but hate how the training can sometimes monopolize my time and prevent me from doing "fun" things. So, I try hard to find the balance between challenging myself with running, while still having lots of fun on the side.
